About Us
Starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, North Branch Robotics is integrating our Middle School and High School programs with the aim of offering an enhanced collaborative learning environment. Here in North Branch, Michigan we believe that our students should have the opportunity to experience the life of Robotics no matter what gender or other stereotypical distinguishers.
We strive to have all of our team members participate in off-season events, as well as various STEM/STEAM events. Middle and High School students contribute service hours in a variety of ways throughout the school year.
Our robotics program is still young, but we believe that any student interested in learning/participating in our program should have that chance. We work with local and corporate businesses along with grants to ensure that the team will continue to run without a financial burden on the students and their parents.

The High School (FRC) Team #8767, known as "Dark Horse Robotics," was established in 2022. During our inaugural year, we were honored to receive the Rookie All Star award at our first competition. Our team prides itself on being inclusive and fostering collaboration among students with diverse skillsets.
The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is designed for students in grades 8–12 to compete head to head, using a sports model. Teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots in a 6-week build period to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and is programmed using Java, C++, Python, or LabView. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments. The ultimate goal of FRC is to reach more young people, and get them a more accessible opportunity to discover the excitement and rewards of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
